I recently hired a car online with Goldcar, I paid upfront for the service before the holiday, there was no mention of paying for deposits etc…..

When I arrived at the airport the pickup the car, we was charge a substantial fee on my credit card which I was told was a security deposit, which will be refunded when i returned the car with a full tank of fuel. Which I accepted as standard practice and payed before taking the car. The car had no damage , returned earlier than stated and no reason to retain any money but only part of the deposit was refunded, can you please explain why.

My rental details are as follows

- Drop off date and time 14th Jan 2017 17:00 (car returned approx an hour before this time, with a full tank of fuel)

Pre payment – car hire – £71.06
Full protection insurance – £60.55
Total – £131.61

Deposit payed on collection of car – £143.55
Amount refunded on return of car – £80.49

So I have been charged an extra – £63.09
